Beads, pearls and sparkles

Photos ready...for the little something I was telling you about yesterday. It really took a lot of time to hand-sew every single bead and pearl, one by one. But I'm really pleased with the result so I think it was worth the time and energy and all the sparkles dazzling in front of my eyes after finished sewing up the last pearl...

Coming up soon in my Breslo shop...

I'm off to the gym!
Stay healthy,

And we have a winner...

True Random Number Generator 13 Powered by RANDOM.ORG

So the winner of the giveaway is...
13

namely:

Camelia Andrasescu

Forgive me for not posting a proper screenshot, but for some reason Vista is playing tricks on me, but luckily I managed to copy-paste the result this way and as much as I don't like it, it will have to do for now...

But never mind this!

Congratulations my dear and thank you all for participating! I really love this feeling of giving away something just because it's nice to randomly surprise someone I might not even know in person... and, please stay tuned for other occasions like this, because there will be others coming up really soon! Especially now with all the love going on this month for Valentine's and Dragobete, we have to spread the joy ♥. So I'm thinking either another -this time heart-shaped- ceramics box or some kind of jewelry...or maybe both! :) So this coming up weekend we will start the new party!!! And until then other interesting, cool, exciting and/or lovely posts each and every day...

Truly yours,

E.

Sunday thoughts

I don't really follow any sports shows, except for one particular type...
Oh how I love this time of year (this week in fact), with the Figure Skating Championships going on...pure addiction for me! For now on the European level and in March everyone from every continent comes together for a wonderful show...can't wait. While in high school I magically got sick each year in those two special weeks... :) It was quite a while ago, but it is impossible to forget!

Other then that, I created many "loveliness" this week, feeling so energetic throughout the whole week. Actually I just finished sewing up a thousand million (ok, I have no idea about the real number) beads and pearls on to a whimsical necklace...hope to have the time to take some photos tomorrow so I'll be able to show it to you.

And you know what else is going on tomorrow? Stay tuned my sweet participants, because you might just get lucky tomorrow!!! I'll be announcing the winner of THE giveaway! (*drums*)

And something else that's pretty new is a "couple" of brand new items in my Breslo Shop!

Chocolate muffin

I have had so much fun lately with all the snow falling like crazy...
Our workshop is out in the wilderness (*read on a small hill in a village 8km far from the city I live in , but there are no houses in a 100m radius) so there is no one coming and sweeping any snow at all around there, but that is whey we have a snow shovel, so putting my really humble muscles to work was a bit of a challenge but so much fun, I didn't want to stop.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having said that, what could give more energy than a delicious piece of dark-chocolate-muffin??? I am telling you, I have rarely tried such a taste...It is so good! And inexpensive too. Plus you are done before you knew it, because it takes about 6 minutes to mix the ingredients and about 20-24 minutes til it bakes. And DONE! Amazing, really. And it requires practicaly no other skills than reading, if you know what I mean.
What you need is:
150 g flour
2 eggs
150 g butter
150 g sugar
3 tsp peach gem
3,5 g baking powder (that is half a small package usually)
50 g dark cocoa powder
50 g minced dark chocolate (or chocolate chips)
Now all you do is mix everything together (preferably with an electronic mixer) til you get a nice and creamy texture (it should be a bit thicker) and put the mix into small muffin paper.
You can also put the papers into a proper muffin-pan, but I'm cheap, so I used a regular baking pan to bake these goodies (just as good).Leave them in the oven for about 20-14 min, then try it with a needle and you'll see whether it is ready or not. But normally it should be a little chocolaty on the inside from the melted chocolate pieces, which at cooling down will harden anyway.
The "granny-advice" is to add some pre-sugared orange skin to the mix, I'm telling you it cannot get better than that. Maybe next time, I'll show toy how to make it if you are not familiar with it. But I suppose most of you know what I am talking about :)
Let me know if you try it! ♥
Love,
E.
My own personal fairytale...
What a lovely evening!
I had dinner with a very dear childhood friend, whom I haven't seen or talked to in a very long time and it was great to catch up on the old subjects and... new ones... while the snow was falling outside as in a fairytale.
There was also something I received in the mail yesterday that made this day to seem even more like a tale -- this gorgeous arty ring from the lovely Eugenia! Her shop is called Bohemian Sin and you should definitely pay her a visit sometime soon, especially now that she prepared you a gorgeous Valentine's day collection!
But getting back to my fairy tale element, miss BohemianSin and I did a little swap. And thus my ring-collection received her queen ring:
A creative reproduction of a Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg painting. I love it! And I also love that the ring is over-sized so it really makes an impression...Love, love, love it! Thanks so much miss BohemianSin ♥
Now, truth be told, the fairy tale would have been complete if, by the end of the night a prince had come and carried me away in the sunset. But since it was snowing, perhaps the prince got snowed in. Oh well...But that's alright, I always love an ambiguous ending! :)
Truly yours,
E.
PS. Make sure you visit again tomorrow, because I have a giveaway coming up...Yipppiiiii
Pink Saturday -20-
My 20th Pink Saturday already...Wow, time flies...
Today I thought I'd show you something, that cannot yet be found in my shop... A pretty experimental-ceramics dessert dish-set.
I love texture, I do. Especially something elegant, fine and delicate to all senses. I use things that inspire me in this sense quite often in my work. In all I do actually, not just in ceramics...Also in my sewing projects or jewelry.
Funnily enough though, I don't wear that much of it (obvious texture that is), I like to keep it as simple as as I can when it comes to me. In the every day life, at least. Special occasions are another subject. Believe me...
Who doesn't love to make an entrance...:)
But anyway, let's not make today's post into a fashion issue...So here is what I was talking about! Let me know what you think! I really love feedback about my work to see what people like and what they would like to have in their kitchen cabinet.
I love vintage china and tableware, but I also like something modern yet timelessly elegant (at least, in my perspective)...And creating will always be my true love...♥
Have a lovely day!
Don't forget to visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for more lovely pinks!
Truly yours,
E.
Goldy's entrance
Remember the kitties I showed you on Monday? Well, I also told you that one of them was missing, due to special treatment (read, colloidal gold (18 carat) decoration -- a real royalty) which takes a bit more time.
Its kitten highness is ready now:
The other ones already found their new homes, but this one is still available for purchase in my Breslo shop.
Yours truly,
E.
NEWS! *Jasmin Blanc Boutique on ETSY*
So now that I officially declared myself and indie artist, it was about time for me to go international, you must agree with me on that. So where else would I do that other than joining the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious community on Etsy...
There! My brand new shop on Etsy! Hurry up and check it out! Get your very own Jasmin Blanc Boutique jewelry. Anyone purchasing in this first month will receive a present (surprise) regardless of the amount spent. How cool is that? :) Remember every single pieace is one-of-a-kind so you will be the only person on this planet wearing it. How cool is that? :D
If you are from Romania don't forget to visit me on Breslo simply by clicking here. You will be able to buy not only the jewelry I make, but also bags, clothes, and my lovely ceramics. The reason I don't sell the latter internationally is exclusively due to silly high shipping-rates (though if, you are willing to put up with that, let me know and we will work out someting). But it is not the same for jewelry, and that means I can make it affordable for all the lovely people in love with one-of-a-kind beauty outside Romania to be a part of my world by wearing my creations! ♥
I am very exited as you can probably tell!!!
So I invite you to share my joy :)
Love,
E.
I'm a whaaaaat?
A very...hm, what would the right adjective be...unusual, maybe, thing happened to me. Well, actually it was rather the feeling I had because of what happened was unusual.
I randomly started to talk to a woman in the gym today and at one point she asked me "So, what do you do?"...
I froze for a moment. It was the first time anyone asked me that since this summer...And as most of you already know many things changed since then. So instead of listing all the things that ran by me in my life, those that I was supposedly doing (uni, that I did not interest me; crafting, teaching, language courses) I just smiled and said it out loud: I am an indie artist, I dream it and I create it.
Maaaaaaan it felt so right. Jewelry, pottery, clothes, drawing, recycling, DIY, you name it. And that is me. That is what I do. Who I am. Who I have always been, but was not brave enough to admit it to myself. I don't want a fancy life. I just want to live my own life instead of something plastic and impersonal. That doesn't mean I cannot or will not dream big. It just means that those big dreams are dreamed by my heart, not by greed.
And it feels right. Because it is way more simple then I have ever thought I'd be able to live. Yet I have never felt more "complicated". In the positive sense of the word.
E.
Two for sale and one to keep
I was always crazy about candles...
In my senior year in high school (quite some time ago, to be honest), my mom and I both had silly busy schedules so each and every morning we used to get up at half past 6, when it was still dark outside, lit up some candles and drink coffee together. Otherwise we could not have spent any time at all together... So this is for the cozy moments, but we all very well know how some candles can change the outlook, smell and atmosphere of any home...
But since I work with ceramics and not candles, I thought I'd design something nice and reusable. Because when a pretty looking candle is over, that is that. But these candle holders can be refilled with tiny little tea-candles all the time and still look chic.
And I thought I'd keep this one for myself, since I like to do my yoga practice by candle light in the evening...
My newest work
So remember all the newly poured ceramics products I was telling you about? I'm afraid I have kept these three a secret back then...But here are my little ones.
You know what is great about creating? That you get to fall in love with your work over and over again, because you can create whatever pleases you the most...and then let people with similar taste find you and feel the same way! And I say this in the healthiest way possible, please don;t get me wrong. It is not about arrogance or loftiness...It is sincere love towards the products, as if they were a tiny part of my own being.
People tell me it shows...The love, I mean. And I could not ask for more, than to transmit this kind of message wit what I do...
So allow me to be a little pathetic and link this little heart I recently made - glazed with this wonderful color- to what has been said above...
And now move on to showing you my little darlings. These little kitties... They are four all together, but one of them is still in the process of "being born" (or finished, in more realistic terms): whitey (who already found a home), greenish, blueish and goldy (whom you will meet by Tuesday).
My SHOP is the place to be, I'm telling you :)
Hope you enjoyed!
Love,
E.
Silly Season
Do you ever get tired of winter?
I must say December would be more than enough for me as the winter season. I would be dificult to imagine Christmas without snow or at least a nice chilly weather, but that would have to pretty much be it!
I'm so sick of not seeing the sun for days or weeks in a row...and sometimes the seasonal affective disorder starts to take over my general good mood. It is so silly!
As you can probably tell, I am really looking forward to seeing the sun and feeling the warm sunshine touching my skin!!! And I truly hope it won't keep me waiting for long...
But I must say today was a little better and having a blue sky instead of a dark gray one did wonders!
How are you holding up? :)
(beautiful Taize summer-sky)
E.
Pink Saturday -19-
We have not yet gotten rid of the cold weather it seems, so creating this little neck-warmer/cowl was not such a bad idea, now, was it? Knitted and decorated with lovely dark-pink ribbons and ivory pearls...cannot get better than this. And what is great about these, is that you can use it still in the beginning of spring, since they are not as warm as a huge knitted scarf and they are fresh and lovely in color, just like spring blossoms...
Happy Pink Saturday!
Please check back to Beverly's blog to see all the other posts liked up to the pink party. And stay tuned for more lovely post over here at Jasmin Blanc Boutique!
E.
Surprising & Wrapping
These two are very important when you have an online shop, or any shop for that matter. I try to pack the ordered products in a special way and if the amount spent in my shop exceeds a given sum, then I like to surprise my customers with something special...
I don't know much about marketing, so I do not follow any rules or strict advices. Actually I don't even like to spend a lot of time on this aspect of the "business" (although I know I should)... For me creating is what keeps my mind and heart busy at all times. But in spite all this, I like to think of what I would like to receive when I order something online. And especially if it is something handmade... I'd expect something special, something out of the ordinary, something that I would normally not expect...
So here is my advice to handmade artists who sell online: think of yourselves. Consider what you would like to get! And that way you'll give the best you can. I think no one would expect more than that...Or less for that matter.
After hiding surprises among the ordered creations, comes the wrapping up. I don't think that the secret of wrapping lies in the high quality of some fancy paper...Take a look at what I did in the past couple of days.
What is really important, I think, is to have somewhat the same style in wrapping as you have in general for what you create. That way I'd dare to say that your art extends to this final detail!
Tea cookies and Salty delight
I have many talents, photography is not one of them though...But believe a dessert lover on her word: these are delicious!
Remember what I was telling you about yesterday??? About how my mom and I decided to bake for friends and friends' friends and their friends' friends... Well, for now we are experimenting with some well-known cookies (well known in my region, naturally), and give out some samples for people to see what they like best, what they would prefer and so on.
Hope you enjoyed this!
On my way to Etsy...and some baking
...that road seems to be a bit longer than I expected.
Did I tell you how much I hate all the bureaucracy about banks and numbers? Well, let me do the honor now then. It is not that I am not able to make any progresses, but everything seems to take forever, all the processing and codes. So silly!
Anyway, it seems there is pretty much a big fat nothing that I can do about it, except wait. So that is what I am impatiently doing...
Soon, very soon! And until then I am very excited about our mother-daughter business "thing". A couple of days ago, my mom and I, we decided to try selling homemade cookies and cakes. Not online obviously and definitely not internationally, that would be hilarious. No, we have heard about many people complaining about not having time (or the skills/nerves) to bake anything so they buy everything from the stores, you know, the crappy supermarket ones, which in spite of having different names, they taste alike... And we heard these very same people craving homemade "mommy's" cookies/cakes. So we decided that with the help of our friends -- who would do us a favor and advertise it among their friends (etc.)-- we will help others get the deserts they want and even earn some money. Who knows what turns out of it... So much yummieness never led to anything bad :) So if this thought captured your interest and you are from/or nearby Cluj, let me know how we can help you. We started out with baking some tea-biscuit and salty delights, but I was not able to take pictures yet so those will come soon!
And maybe I can make a link between my ceramics dishes and the baked goodies. I am really excited! Stay tuned!
Love,
E.
New Ceramics Collection JASMIN BLANC
A lovely ceramics collection is on its way and hopefully will be ready by the end of next week. I think I have already told you this, but I think the greatest thing about the way I work with ceramics is, that the final product is always a surprise. I experiment a lot and never do any kind of tryouts, I do it from scratch to end and let myself be amazed by it...It really is the most wonderful thing...
(some of the molds that I use)
Those of you who work with ceramics also know that this is a relatively longer process especially if you have a bigger oven it it takes some time til it fills up so that you can start the burning process. Then glazing, burning decoration and then burning it yet again! But I really love every minute of it all and have butterflies in my stomach every time I open the doors of the oven after the very last burn.
Here are some photos of the freshly poured products...
So all these beauties and more will be available in about two weeks in Jasmin Blanc Boutique! So be sure to visit my shop every chance you get. Until then you can browse through the products which are available at this point.
Love,
E.
