wedding favors

It has been my first time working on something like this. I have designed customized wedding jewelry and baptize favors as well as a little cassette for the babies hair (from the first hair cut, I guess), personalized with the little one's name and date of birth, but I have never worked on wedding favors up-to now.

We finalized them together with my father, working like crazy on all the 85 of them. The flowers are hand-shaped and hand painted. And the little oval cassettes are created in a layered technique of a mix of colored and white ceramics. All of them carefully glazed.

I find myself to enjoy wedding projects more and more, not to mention constantly working on my own Wedding Collection, which I hope to finish in around one month... and I am super excited about it!

So if you're getting married, you know who to turn to, right? (*wink*)

days of magic

I'm home! And I am more or less awake too, after an entire night of bus ride, but also after 3 days of pure magic. These 3 days away from home, from work, from a constantly noisy mind and a never resting schedule, being with the one I have missed so much in the past couple of months was more than I could ever have asked for. Walks in the chilly wind, sweetened by the spring-flower fragrance, eating almond-cream pancakes and tasting delicious pastry cakes form the bests, smiling, laughing, being full of hope, yet careful on the moving sand. All we still need is a little confidence.

I believe, I've gotten answers to questions. Which is great. Not easy. But nothing worthwhile will ever appear to be so... I will not seek explanations. I feel peaceful enough to simply trust the whispers of my heart.

So here's to something new! ♥

Stay true to your heart, friends...

herb garden

Do you know those wonderful kitchen based herb gardens, that are shown in the home-decor magazines? Well this morning I decided to stop emptily admiring other people's herbs and make my own! I am not much of a gardener, I will admit. It's not that I don't love plants, I even talk to them and adorn them, but I most often forget to water them, which is a crucial aspect in the subject...

But never mind my faults, I decided to accept that, and wittily placed a little glass bottle with water in it next to the pots. Ha!

Anyway, the bottom line is, I planted lavender, oregano, mint and chives. And I am very excited about this! As you can probably already tell.

How cool is this?
There is a wonderful week ahead of us, enjoy it!

sunny days at the workshop

I've been spending a lot of time at the workshop these days. Somehow editing photos inside the apartment doesn't seem to work for me, when it is so nice and sunny outside. Today I played with the dogs in the yard of our workshop for around half an hour. It was so nice and sunny! So when I looked in the mirror tonight I could see the difference in my skin tone already...Oh how I love the sun!

I have been preparing some (lots) of new tableware designs for my Breslo shop and started working on an entire bridal collection which will be available exclusively on Etsy! I'm not even half way through, but I am already beyond excited about the latter and I'll make sure to share tiny sneak-peaks along the way...

I love how spring fills my heart with inspiration...

Home-made hair mask

Some find it disgusting, I find it magical...

Olive oil and egg yolk = perfect hair mask. I have tried out tons of hair masks until I said ok, no more! Maybe I'm too sensitive, maybe the products are way too artificial, but one thing's for sure, my hair and scalp cannot take any of that stuff, so I started using all sorts of home made-hair masks and thought I'd share it with you.

Mix ingredients.
Apply to hair and scalp.
Wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap.
Enjoy the delicate warmth for 30 minutes.
Rinse and wash it off well with shampoo.
Be amazed!

It is so funny seeing the image people have about artist...
Somehow they think that we paint and sculpt the day away in light filled studios with great view through the window, or in a hidden, mysterious warehouses in the middle of nowhere; living luxurious lives, drinking vine, not having a care in the world.

I met a girl I haven't seen in years yesterday. When I told her about what I'm doing she said oh wow, great luxury. Then I smiled, thinking I could really use a coffee after all the nights I had put in lately to be able to deal with online sales, plus obviously all the days, when I am creating.

I wouldn't want it any other way.

She was after a 30 hours shift in the E.R. waiting for the bus to arrive, already looking a bit puzzled for no reason, well, none, other than being extremely tired. I must have had a stunned face at the news, when she calmly said she had found the meaning! She was glowing of happiness when she said this.

On my way home, I met someone else I haven't seen in years. She got married in the meantime. And now she was on her way to the kindergarten with her little man. I asked her, how her life turned out to be. She told me with an amazing smile on her face, that becoming a mother was the best thing that had ever happened to her and she could never have asked for more...

Luxury lies not in certain domains, but in love and fulfillment. Finding a meaning to our lives is what all of us strive for, even if this happens unconsciously. And living it IS luxury itself, it is the highest form of luxury there is, whether it is a 30 hours shift or a life-long shift, as long as you cherish every moment, the good ones and bad ones in your heart you are on the way!

Stay true!

DIY - Handpainted Mug Tutorial

We all love gifts, don't we? So consider that next time you are buying a silly something for someone dear, just to get the burden off of your shoulders. Giving is not that! It is not about just handing it over and that is that. Giving is an act of love, as much at non material "giving", as at the material one.

I always loved making things to give for an occasion. Something that is made with love and dedication will always be a pretty gift, whether your a crafty person or not. So many people say that they are not good at making things, but let's face it, that is really just nothing more than a lousy excuse to not even trying.

So I decided to share with you some gift making ideas for the season. We have so many sweet occasions to celebrate in spring, from Mother's Day to Easter, so why not do it in sweet, yet simple style.I started with this project on purpose, since it is suitable for anyone, really. I mean, who doesn't love to start their day with a hot drink, be that coffee, tea or you name it!

What you will need is a plain mug, that you can find at any supermarket and a porcelain marker. The colors you will use are totally up to you, but if you are making this for someone, you might want to consider their taste in colors. For example if your mother finds black repulsive, like mine does, you might not want to give her a black mug for Mother's day...

I drew a sweet little lacy-doily pattern on mine, but you can customize it any way you choose.

Step 3:
- when you're finished drawing it, put your mug into the oven, and burn it at the advised heat, shown on your pen. Normally it takes 30 minutes at160 Celsius degrees for the paint to dry properly.

And there you have it!

I would even recommend making a letter-stencil to guide you in drawing, if your not comfortable with straight lines. Say, you could write "M" for mom, which you can print out from your computer in Word, cut it out, fix it to your mug and then simply tint it. So easy!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you're ever try making this, please consider leaving a comment at this post, I'd love to see what you came up with ♥

I am happy to announce

I had a previous attempt to open a JBB shop on Etsy somewhere at the beginning of 2011, but that had failed, because besides posting a couple of products once I haven't done anything else. Zero. Nothing.

Gaspar is in London and things seem to work out slowly but surely, which is exciting. Yet this continuous uncertainty starts to bring me down and motivate me in the same time. Things are impossible only until you label them so in your heart. So I decided to go for it.

I am still in Cluj. Trying to figure out how to bring my true loves together to one place. Gaspar and art, that is... And in moments like this when my smile sits from ear to ear on my face I realize how ungrateful I would be if I'd call this situation anything worse than a tiny challenge, which I might not have the answer for as I speak, but will take tiny steps towards, to bridge the gaps and figure it all out.

A workshop or studio in London would be an investment that is far beyond my reach right now. This I know. But what I also know is, that I love the touch of clay. I love the smell of paint. And I certainly love the feel of tools in my hand while creating my tiny jewelries.

So there has to be a way!

There has to...

Getting back to why I first started writing this entry, I reopened Jasmin Blanc Boutique on Etsy. Put my heart into carefully selecting the jewelry collection I showcase there.... And so here you have it. I will not neglect it this time around, for sure. So be sure to check back often because I am posting new creations almost daily.

If you like what I do, please spread the news, I am sure grateful for all your support!

Shop Update - Jasmin Blanc Boutique

I love to wake up to see vivid white smirches dancing childishly all over the clear blue sky... And the unthinkable happened. I was actually in the mood for a thorough house-cleaning, which is I believe a first! Yes, I clean, because it has to be done. And yes I clean, when I am stressed out. But being in the mood to do it, full of energy running back and forth, dancing around with the vacuum cleaner could only happen in the spring magic.

So I watched tiny kittens play, snowdrops shirk through the (finally) melting snow. And then after a well deserved treat, I updated my online store with tiny spring beauties. You can check them out, by clicking here.

Have sweet dreams!

happy spring

The city was vibrant today... People were moving around like ants in a their nests and it was so nice to see everyone so alive again after the cold winter days, when they preferred to stay in their warm and cozy homes if there was at least one chance.

We had Siberia move into our Transylvanian lands for way too long this winter, so the warm sunshine cuddling people's faces calls forth a smile even in the grumpiest of us...

Ah, such a magical time!

I haven't continued my gratitude blog post- prologues, but today is a brand new day!

I am grateful, because...
I rose together with the sun this morning.
Finished a few pairs of spring earrings.
Went to the vivid fair at the Museum Square and had been swept away by fresh spring reveries, as people walked by our boutique-stand.
Bumped into a childhood friend, and we talked for nearly 2,5 hours.
Savored creamy chocolate truffles.
Invented a crochet collar model for my marinière shirt.
And most of all, learned that Gaspar will be able to take a couple of days off at the end of this month, so he will fly to Budapest and we will spend that time together.
